INDIAN CRABS CURRY
Crabs have rich content of calcium and a great source of protein. Crabs contains omega-3 fatty acids,selenium,vitamin-B 2 [Riboflavin],copper,phosphorus etc.It is considered as super food because of rich content of protein, vitamin, minerals.
Crabs curry is very easy recipe and it is different taste.If one crab is damaged, total curry taste will spoiled.So select the crabs in good condition why because there is not available live crabs in all regions, we bought most of the freezer crabs in the market. So check at once the crabs that they are good or bad in condition to cook.Otherwise the crabs curry smell comes very bad and taste will also spoiled.I am sharing my experience while preparation of crabs curry.This curry is mouth watering recipe.
LET'S START TO PREPARE CRABS CURRY:
INGREDIENTS:
- Crabs - 20
- Onions -4
- Tomatoes - 1
- Somfu / fennel seeds - 1/4 spoon
- Cumin seeds / jeera - 1/4 spoon
- Red chilli powder -1 1/2 spoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon
- Salt - 1 spoon
- oil - 6 spoons
- Ginger- garlic paste -2 spoons
- Curry leaves - 1 spoon
- Coriander leaves - 1 spoon
PREPARATION OF MASALA:
Ingredients for masala powder:
- coriander seeds - 2 spoons
- cumin seeds - 1/4 spoon
- somfu - 1/4 spoon
- pepper -1/4 spoon
- cloves - 4
- cinnamon - 1 small bit
- Heat a vessel on the stove and add coriander seeds, cloves, somfu, cumin seeds ,cinnamon, pepper and roast it for 5 minutes in low flame.
- Switch off the stove and cool it for sometime.
- Now make a fine powder in the mixer jar.
- Masala powder is ready to use.
- First of all identify that which crabs are in good condition and which are bad in condition to cook.
- If you are not identify the crabs quality, the crabs curry taste will spoiled.
- I am sharing some pics of good crabs, we must check the bottom side of the crabs ,it is good or bad in condition.
- Clean the crabs properly.
- Cut the onions into small pieces.
- Cut the tomatoes in medium pieces.
- Heat a big vessel on the stove and add 6 spoons of oil.
- Now add cumin seeds, somfu, onion pieces and roast it for 5 minutes.
- Add curry leaves,ginger- garlic paste and roast it for three minutes.
- Now add crabs without water, add enough salt, turmeric powder andmix it well ,and close the lid, cook it for 10 minutes in medium flame.
- Open the lid ,add tomato pieces, and cook for ten minutes.
- Add red chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, half glass of water into the vessel, close the lid and cook it for 5 minutes in medium flame.
- Add masala powder, coriander leaves and cook it for five minutes.
- When the thick gravy is ready ,then switch off the stove.
- Tasty and spicy crabs curry is ready to serve with hot steamed rice.
TIPS:
- First of all use good conditioned crabs for this curry preparation.
- Check the bottom side of crabs properly.
- The best indication of good crabs are- If the bottom side flesh is present , it is in good condition. If bottom side the whole flesh is not present , it is in bad condition.
- The spoiled crabs don't have flesh and only having shell.
- pepper adds more spiciness to this curry.
- Crabs cury has rich source of calcium and try the curry at once in your home.
