KORRALU PONGAL
Foxtail millet has different names in different countries. In India, it is called KORRALU/ KORRA in Telugu language, KAKUM in Hindi, and in different names in different regions. Foxtail millets are the best food for the Diabetics why because it has low carbohydrates, which has control sugar levels in the blood. It is a rich source of copper, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, calcium, and fiber. Diabetics can change the millets instead of white rice in their lunch menu, they can control their sugar levels. This millet is the best diet food, who wants to weight loss and control high blood pressure.
Today I am preparing foxtail millet Pongal which is a very simple recipe even beginners also prepared within half an hour and it is the best breakfast and supper recipe for the diabetics.
Lets start to prepere millet pongal
Ingredients:
- Foxtail millet - 2cups
- yellow split gram/moong dal - 1cup
- Oil - 3spoons
- Onion - 1{cut into small pieces}
- Green chilies - 3{split}
- Cumin seeds - 1spoon
- Pepper - 1/2spoon
- Ginger - 2spoons[chopped]
- Ghee - 1spoon
- Curry leaves - 2spoons
- Inguva/asafoetida - 2pinches
- water - 7-8cups
Preparation:
- Clean the foxtail millets thoroughly.
- Pour the water into the millets and keep it for one hour.
- Now, heat the cooker/vessel add oil, onions and roast it for 3 minutes.
- Add green chilies, pepper, cumin seeds, ginger pieces, curry leaves, and asafoetida.
- After roasting of all ingredients add water into the cooker.
- Add millets and yellow split gram into the cooker.
- Close the cooker lid and wait for 4 whistles.
- Foxtail millet Pongal is ready to serve with tomato chutney, sambar, curries which are spicy.
Before serving add a little bit of ghee to the hot foxtail millet Pongal to your family members, surely they can enjoy this recipe.
